This class offers an introduction to street art and freehand spray painting techniques, led by Melbourne’s street art star MAHA

What You Will Learn

Have you ever wanted to create your own piece of street art? Our freehand workshop offers an exclusive chance to learn a variety of spraypainting techniques from a renowned street artist right here at the famous Blender Studios. The workshop will start with an artist talk from your instructor and street art demonstration where they will cover a range of different can skills to get you started on your spraypainting journey.
The spraypaint can is a challenging tool in comparison to other paint mediums and our artist is here to guide you through all the insider tricks of the trade. After a few practice activities where you will experiment with different techniques in our dedicated spraypainting venue, participants will then head back to the classroom for a short sketching and design session. Armed with your design, we will then head back outside to create our final masterpiece for the day. This workshop is perfect for anyone looking to develop their can control and learn spraypainting techniques for street art and muralism.

What You Will Make

Participants will be involved in a range of practice activities before creating their final spray painted artwork onto large panels in our ‘private laneway. The panels are too big for most people to take home, so we suggest taking some photos to document your artwork. For anyone wishing to take their panel home pls let our staff know.A light morning tea is also provided.

What is Included

Who Teaches the Workshop?

Our freehand workshop is run by street artist Caper. Caper has been facilitating workshops and teaching people the skills of spray painting for many years through The Blender Studios.

What to bring

Make sure you wear appropriate clothing for a painting class! If spray paint gets on your clothes, chances are it won’t come out.

Stencil Workshop - Beginner

Our stencil workshop for beginners has been specially designed by street artists to give you an introduction to these mediums under the guidance of a renowned stencil artist. This workshop is perfect for anyone who has never made a stencil before but wants to learn!

Workshop Outcome​

Every participant will create their own re-usable stencil and artwork on a canvas, both of which can be taken home.

Spray paint is a challenging medium to work with and our artist is here to guide you through all the insider tricks of the trade. After a few practice activities where you will experiment with different techniques in our dedicated spray-painting venue, participants will then head back to the classroom for a short sketching and design session. Armed with your design, we will then head back outside to create our final masterpiece for the day.  

Kids will paint onto a 90x90cm wooden board which you have the option to take home for a small $10 material fee 🙂 – (this is to cover our MDF board, cutting and prep the board, raw materials cost)

* less than 24hrs 50% refund

* less than 12 hours NO REFUND.

**Participants must be 10+ yrs old or 135cm and over in age or height. Height and age will be checked at entrance to workshop and participants may be turned away if these requirements are not reached. This is for the safety of all participants, as participants that don’t meet these requirements lack muscle control in their hands.

KIDS HOLIDAY CLASS – Ages 10+

This workshop offers an introduction to spray-painting through stencils. Every young person will design and create their own stencil that they will cut from acetate. Using a combination of basic freehand skills and stencilling techniques, each young person will then spray-paint a canvas that they will get to keep.

Workshop Outcome:

Every participant will create their own re-usable stencil and artwork on a canvas, both of which can be taken home.

Cost: $79 per kid

Duration: 2hours

Participants will learn basic spraypaint skills which can be applied to a range of projects. This is a great prerequisite to our Freehand Spraypainting Workshop!
